Our Purpose
MIRITMO is a group of art professionals, cultural arts practitioners and advocates dedicated to cultivating partnerships with communities and organizations across the state and nation focusing on uplifting the contributions of African and Indigenous artists from diverse genres while promoting economic development, educational workshops, outreach, and performance.
Our Mission
- To strengthen and preserve the cultural heritage of Latinidad in Michigan with a focus on Afro and Indigenous arts and artists
- To increase cultural awareness and diversity of Latinidad by connecting Latino artists, performers, exhibits, and education in the areas of music, visual arts, dance, and film to a global community
- To promote and connect Afro Latin and Indigenous artists across the state , country, and Americas
- To promote leadership development via education and internships for burgeoning Latin artists in the performing arts and entertainment industry
- To deliver annual events that stabilize and revitalize Latino arts and cultural sector by securing funding, providing leadership training, convenings that connect artists, academic research, and advocacy that ensures equity
